PLANTER'S HOTEL

Also known as Atkin's Hotel

William B. Atkin listed below was born in England in 1822. His wifeís name was Elizabeth and she was born in Virginia in 1825. Three of the oldest children were born in Ohio, the younger two, Lula and William, were born in Kentucky. From the childrenís births the Atkin family were in Ohio in 1860 and had arrived in Kentucky by 1863.

On November 17 1869 William Atkin bought a hotel in Auburn, called Planters Hotel from William McCarley (Deed Book 43, page 232). William McCarley and his wife, Ann bought the hotel from E. R. Gordon and W. S. Boliver. 

On May 29, 1875 William Atkin declared bankruptcy and filed a petition re same. On September 2, 1875 William Atkin's wife, Elizabeth paid over $1000 and bought all her husbandís assets.

On Nov 5 1879, Elizabeth A. Atkin, in consideration of love and affection, conveyed all the property in her name to her husband William.

1.  WILLIAM1 ATKIN was born 1822 in England, and died 1881.  He married ELIZABETH A. CLARK Abt. 1850.  She was born December 1825 in Virginia, and died 1902.
